When we first moved to San Rafael, we noticed Fringed Rue planted at the entrance of many homes. We later learned that this tradition was passed down by indigenous cultures, who planted Rue for protection against negative energies and psychic interference. The plant itself emits a strong, pungent fragrance and grows remarkably large, serving as a living guardian. It is said that when the plant dies, it has absorbed and neutralized harmful energies — a sign to offer gratitude and plant another in its place.
